One thing they didn't point out: #1 is far and away the most important quality for a campaign hire. Everything else can be learned, because campaigning isn't particularly difficult to learn. But putting in the hours and energy to learn it is by far the most difficult part.
If you're hiring a campaign manager for your campaign - or just looking for a volunteer manager - make sure they are hard working. They can figure out the rest if they are.
